Everyday Heroes Receive Recognition
2013 'Star of Life' Recipients
Five United EMS Workers-AFSCME Local 4911 members--all of whom work for Medic Ambulance in Solano County-- are recipients of this year’s ‘Star of Life’ Award.
The California Ambulance Association (CAA) annually recognizes paramedics and emergency medical technicians who go above and beyond the call of duty. A ceremony was held for them in Sacramento, CA to honor their heroic actions and extraordinary professional achievements.
“It feels great to be recognized by the state of California,” said EMT Markus Lincoln who was honored for saving a six-year-old girl’s life after a heart attack. He said saving the young girl’s life was one of the greatest moments in his career. Fellow paramedics, Alan Hughry and Sam Humphries were also honored for saving the lives of community members.
EMT Pamela Watson was recognized for her commitment to maintaining high quality patient care, and Cameron Messer for his outstanding contribution to the organization as an emergency medical dispatcher.
“It just goes to show we work with a lot of people who genuinely care and want to do what’s in the patient’s best interest,” said Casey Venier, a fellow paramedic and bargaining team member. He went on to congratulate them on behalf of the entire unit.
