Back-to-Back Victories for EMS Professionals Grow the Union
Emergency medical services professionals in California and Arizona voted earlier this month to unionize with United EMS Workers-AFSCME.
Employees of First Responders EMS in Sacramento, Calif., won their election Monday, August, 5th with 76 percent of the vote. Check out this video of the first responders sharing their story.
“We’re standing together because we want EMS to be seen as a real profession, not just a stepping stone,” said Crystal Forschen, a paramedic at First Responder EMS. “The way we get it done is by having a strong, democratic, and accountable union.”
Employees at River Medical Ambulance-AMR in Lake Havasu, Ariz., held their election Tuesday, August 6th and chose to unionize with AFSCME – this time with 90 percent of the vote.
