Message from President Abed
Fellow Members of United EMS Workers,
I’d like to thank all of our supporters and all the members of our union. The vote was clear and decisive, with as much as 70% of those that voted, voting for myself and the other candidates on our ticket. Our team views this overwhelming majority as a clear mandate for change. The members have spoken – they want our union run differently and they want a change. I will work hard for this union. Along with the other officers and members of the new Board of Directors, we are going to get this mess straightened out.
I’d also like to thank the outgoing officers and directors for their service in the past. The transition of officers and all Union property should be complete soon and we can get down to the business of implementing our 90-day plan.
The fight is over and it is time to heal. We need to come together as a union. Myself and other members of the Board of Directors have been reaching out to the other side in an effort to move past the election and get down to the business of securing a better work place for our members.
There are many tasks ahead of us and it is important that we all chip in to fix our union house. We are looking for members to join us – we need members to step-up and get involved. We are going to be asking members in the different bargaining units; from the NorCal, Riverside, and the New England areas to help us out. I have already been talking to members about joining the various committees that we need to get set up: a hiring committee, a Steward Council committee, an election reform committee, and many
Again, thank you for your support and be assured, your newly elected leadership will be working hard to bring about the change that you demanded.
